MAQUOKETA VFW POST 3633



ABOVE, THURSDAY NIGHT, APRIL 5, '18, LOWELL SCHROEDER AND
TERRY CREEGAN AT MCHS GYM BEFORE THE NEW LARGE FLAG
WAS PRESENTED TO THE PUBLIC FOR FIRST TIME.    THE FLAG,
25 BY 40 FEET COST AROUND $1,500 (FROM DONATIONS) AND WILL
BE AVAILABLE IN THE AREA FOR A FREE-WILL DONATION.   BELOW,
AROUND 30 KIDS TO HOLD THE FLAG.   CAN BE DONE WITH A 
MINIMUM OF 28.  

AT THE APRIL 19 (2017) MEETING, A 
GOOD TURN-OUT OF 13 MEMBERS.
NEW OFFICERS WERE ELECTED FOR THE 2017-2018 YEAR.....MOST WERE RE-ELECTED:

$500.00 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF IOWA VFW FOR VARIOUS FUNDS THAT
ARE IN NEED OF MONEY DURING THE
UPCOMING YEAR.        
       
AT THE DECEMBER 2016 MEETING, OF
THE VFW POST 3633, THE POST VOTED TO GIVE $600.00 TO THE AVENUE OF FLAGS FOR NEW FLAGS IN MAQUOKETA.    AND THE POST AUXILIARY ALSO DONATED $200.00
FOR NEW FLAGS AND HELPED WITH THE REPAIR OF SOME FLAGS, ASSISTING THE LEGION AUXILIARY.


 AT THE AUGUST 17, 2016  MEETING, BILL CLARK OF MONTICELLO JOINED OUR POST.   HE WAS IN THE NAVY DURING LATE 1960's....SERVING ONE TERM  IN VIET NAM IN 1969, NEAR THE END OF THE WAR.

TOM WATTERS WAS SWORN IN AS  THE STATE OF IOWA VFW COMMANDER AT THE STATE CONVENTION IN DUBUQUE ON SUNDAY, JUNE 5, 2016.     HE IS THE FIRST EVER STATE COMMANDER FROM POST 3633.

AT THE 94TH ANNUAL VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS DEPARTMENT OF IOWA STATE CONVENTION HELD IN EARLY JUNE AT BETTENDORF THIS YEAR, PAST COMMANDER OF MAQUOKETAS' O'CONNOR-
REGENWETHER POST 3633, TOM WATTERS OF RURAL MAQUOKETA, AFTER HAVING SERVED FOR THE PAST YEAR AS STATE JR. VICE COMMANDER WAS ELECTED TO THE POSITION OF STATE SR.
VICE COMMANDER.    ALSO DURING THE CONVENTION, PRESENTATIONS WERE HEARD FROM MANY SPEAKERS INCLUDING CHARLIE BECKER OF CAMP COURAGEOUS, PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL LINDSEY GRAHAM AND THE STATE COMMANDER OF AMVETS.    OTHER EVENTS INCLUDED RAFFLES AND AN AUCTION TO BENEFIT THE HOMELESS AND HOSPITALIZED VETERANS. IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE V.F.W. CONVENTION, THE STATE "COOTIES"  (THE HONOR DEGREE OF THE V.F.W.) ALSO  HELD IT'S STATE CONVENTION WHERE TOM WATTERS WAS RE-ELECTED AS STATE JUDGE ADVOCATE.    NEXT YEAR'S STATE CONVENTION WILL BE IN DUBUQUE, AND TOM WATTERS OF RURAL MAQUOKETA  WILL BECOME STATE COMMANDER OF THE IOWA VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS.

ABOVE, TERRY CREEGAN, POST 3633 SERVICE OFFICER.    HE IS ALSO THE PART TIME EMPLOYEE OF JACKSON COUNTY, HEADING THE JACKSON COUNTY VETERAN'S AFFAIRS OFFICE IN THE COURT HOUSE.   HIS WIFE MARY IS ALSO A POST 3633 MEMBER AND SERVES AS A TRUSTEE.

VIET NAM IN 1972 AND 73.    HIS WIFE IS SHAWN WHO IS VERY ACTIVE IN LITTLE THEATRE PRODUCTIONS.     THEY HAVE THREE REDHEAD DAUGHTERS.   ONE IS MARRIED AND THEY HAVE 3 GRANDSONS.

THIS FLOAT WAS DECORATED ON JULY 26, 2011, AT THE KMAQ TRANSMITTER
SITE NORTH EAST OF MAQUOKETA AND KEPT IN THE SHED THERE.  IT WAS FOR THE JULY 27TH FAIR PARADE.   THOUGH NOT ON THE FLOAT, THEN
1ST VICE-CMDR. DENNIS VOY AND SPECIAL FRIEND NANCY JO MOORE HELPED DECORATE IT.     IT  WON 1ST OR 2ND PLACE IN PATRIOTIC
DIVISION.
